Saturday May 3rd 2008 marked our first IIDA
Day at the Derby to benefit Designs for Dignity. The event was a HUGE success
and despite the chilly temperatures and rainy weather, everyone had a GREAT time.
Over 150 guests joined us in 2 yellow & white topped tents where we showcased
our 26 Hat Couture hat competition entries ranging from the demure
to the wildly fantastic.
Guests enjoyed both the Grandstand Grill and
Clubhouse cookout menus plus open bar serving the traditional Derby Mint Juleps,
refreshing lemonades and more.
We are so proud to be able to present Designs
for Dignity with a respectable donation in our inaugural year. Many, many thanks
to; the volunteers who put hours and hours of time into making the event so successful,
the Solomon Cordwell Buenz model shop for engraving the centerpieces, or generous
sponsors for making the event a reality, our hat competition judges and to Michael
and Jennifer from Designs for Dignity for joining us at the event. We look forward
to another fun filled Day at the Derby next year!
